POSITION SUMMARY:
Under Occasional Supervision, assists in supervising the daily operations of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department ensuring prompt response to 911 calls and the provision of qualified medical treatment and transportation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Management and Coordination: The Deputy Director takes on the role of assisting in the management and coordination of daily operations within the emergency medical services division. This includes providing direction on facility and equipment maintenance, overseeing on-the-ground emergency medical care, ambulance deployment schedules, and compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Personnel and Labor Relations: Collaborating with the Emergency Services Director, the Deputy Director acts as a point of contact for personnel and labor relation issues. This involves addressing and resolving various personnel matters, including hiring, training, and development, to ensure that the EMS division operates smoothly and efficiently.
- Grants Administration: The Deputy Director will oversee managing the administration of grants, encompassing federal, state, and local sources. This includes identifying funding opportunities, overseeing grant applications, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements, thereby contributing to the financial sustainability of the EMS division.
- Community Engagement and Representation: The Deputy Director is the liaison between the EMS division and federal, state, and local stakeholders in emergency medical services, fire and rescue, and health care. This role entails actively participating in administrative policies, procedures, and record keeping, and participation with public events when required.
- Budget Management: The Deputy Director is responsible for managing the EMS Division budget. This includes monitoring expenditures, forecasting funds, and identifying grant sources to ensure the division operates within budgetary constraints.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance: The Deputy Director participates in the evaluation, analysis, and modification of quality assurance programs related to pre-hospital medical care. Ensuring compliance with established rules and regulations is a core part of this responsibility.
- Emergency Response: In this mission-critical position, the Deputy Director is expected to respond to emergency situations as needed, contributing to the effective delivery of emergency medical services during crisis events.
- Other Duties: Beyond the specific duties listed, the Deputy Director is expected to perform any other assignments and tasks deemed necessary to fulfill the goals and objectives of the EMS division.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:
Associate degree in emergency medical service, business administration, or related field from an accredited college or university is required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in emergency services to include a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience
Skill in:
- Ensuring full staffing for essential day-to-day functions.
- Maintains working relationship with local hospitals.
- Assists in cleaning, and disinfecting EMS units and performing general housekeeping of station and grounds.
- Prepare and/or process shift reports, duty rosters, incident reports, disciplinary reports, memos, etc.
- Making effective oral presentations to large and small groups.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
- National Registry Paramedic
- BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP, PHTLS Certification, Instructor Certification Preferred
- National Incident Management Systems ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800
- Driver’s license.
